MOV.AI and Lanner Electronics have joined forces to deliver integrated robotics leveraging the Robotics Engine Platform with Lanner’s Edge AI computing. This collaborative solution is designed to simplify the development of autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) by providing robot manufacturers and integrators with both the machine vision computing and the software platform they need to build, deploy, and operate AMRs in industrial environments.
The MOV.AI ROS-based Robotics Engine Platform provides AMR manufacturers and automation integrators with navigation, localization, calibration, and the enterprise-grade tools they need for advanced automation. It includes a visual Integrated Development Environment (IDE), off-the-shelf algorithms and integrations, fleet management, flexible interfaces with warehouse environments such as ERP and WMS, and cyber-security compliance.
Optimized for AI functionality, performance, and ease of deployment, Lanner’s LEC-2290E is a NVIDIA NGC-ready Edge AI Appliance with NVIDIA GPU Compatibility.
“AMRs today are required to operate efficiently in highly dynamic environments. They are designed to work alongside and in collaboration with humans, safely and without interruption,” said Motti Kushnir, MOV.AI CEO. “AMRs today are fast, AI-based, intelligent machines. The partnership with Lanner creates a powerful compute-software platform that allows AMR manufacturers to quickly build the agile robots expected by their customers.”
More than 100,000 mobile robots, including automatic guided vehicles (AGVs) and AMRs, shipped globally in 2021, according to a recent report from Interact Analysis. Overall, the number of robots shipped in 2021 rose 70% from the year before, which resulted in a 36% increase in revenue.
Revenue for mobile robots hit almost $3 billion in 2021. For the first time in the over 40 years AGVs have been on the marketplace, AMRs surpassed them in revenue last year. AMRs brought in $1.6 billion annually, while AGVs finished almost $300 million behind AMRs.
Editor’s Note: Rick Faulk, CEO of Locus Robotics, will deliver a keynote presentation at the Robotics Summit & Expo, which takes place May 10-11 in Boston at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. Faulk’s keynote, called “Robotics Automation in the Warehouse: Optimizing Productivity with Business Intelligence,” will describe how automation solutions can provide companies with various types of key business information, a valuable and actionable resource for business planning, operations optimization, labor management and more.
