Now a new ABB OmniCore robot controller offers tailored control for high-performance applications and seamless digitalization on the factory floor. The controller is flexible enough to serve in robot installations that output high-mix low-volume products 24/7.
The ABB OmniCore controls deliver high path accuracy for top throughput and minimized cycle times. Plus OmniCore controls allow flexibility for integrating robots into digital factory ecosystems — whether manufacturers need standardized motion control or more tailored solutions.
“Automation needs are increasingly complex,” said ABB managing director of robotics Per Vegard Nerseth. “Factories need solutions that support flexibility and high performance during demanding 24/7 operations.”

A footprint that’s 50% smaller than comparable offerings gives robot installers more installation flexibility and floorspace savings in existing and new production lines. Plus the ABB OmniCore connects with wide variety of fieldbuses, advanced vision systems, and force-control devices.
The ABB Ability digital offering includes built-in Connected Services and SafeMove2 safety software. That means the controllers can turn any connected industrial robot into a collaborative robot.
The robot controllers comes with a new generation of ABB’s powerfulRobotWare7 operating system. The latter incorporates new features and functions making the robots more capable than ever before and is accessed through a newly-designed, ergonomic new FlexPendant.
